Create an action plan to sustainably grow the things that matter most to you.
This 3-hour interactive workshop is about understanding ourselves as gardens. We don’t wait for the garden to produce vegetables before we water it. We don’t demand the garden do something deserving of care before we nourish it with fertilizer. That’s backwards! But how often do we do that to ourselves? How often do we wait for a disaster before taking action in our lives?
Just like a garden, we benefit from consistent actions to help ourselves thrive. In this workshop, we’ll visualize the things you want to grow in life, identify valued actions to care for them, and then explore the challenges that often interfere with consistently nourishing the things that matter to us in life.
You’ll finish the workshop with an action plan for making specific changes immediately to support the garden of you and then sustain those actions.
No gardening or drawing experience required. All you need is living experience.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does this relate to recovery and cutting out compulsions?
The workshop exercises place our values at the center and identify the compulsions interfering with them.
For example, if somebody says they value building an artistic career, we then look at how to cultivate and grow their artistic practice. Will avoidance compulsions, checking for reassurance, and spending hours scrolling on their phone everyday help grow their art practice? Nope. What actions will?
By using the garden metaphor, we can have honest conversations during the workshop about actions that care for the garden, and actions that wreck it.
You’ll finish the workshop with a clear plan for switching from the actions that wreck the garden, to instead giving time and energy to actions that grow it.
Will the workshop be recorded? Can I just send my AI note-taker to attend?
Please send your dog to the workshop instead of your robot. Dogs have attended in-person editions of the workshop and they’ve all been good dogs.
We don’t record the workshop. Recording through AI note-takers is not permitted during the workshop. This is to respect the privacy of participants and make the event more comfortable for sharing personal stories.
If you would benefit from annotated instructions on the exercises from the workshop, please get in-touch and we can supply you with additional documentation following the workshop.

Mark is such a great presenter, and he did such a great job with this workshop. His presentation was well-made, the structure and length of the workshop was near-perfect, and it was nice to spend a little time with other people who have had similar experiences–not to wallow in our struggles but to take steps toward our best selves together.
I left this workshop having found my first steps toward making some meaningful positive changes in my life. I also left with a foundational method with which I can explore the workshop exercises further in order to find more ways of growing the garden of me. I am confident in my ability to grow my garden because the exercises helped me find the most easy and effective ways to do so and helped me create a personal plan.
The workshop involved plenty of chances to share our work as we went along and it helped to see and hear about everyone else’s gardens. Mark also gave plenty of personalized feedback as we went along, answered all of our questions, and gave us time at the end for a final discussion and more questions.
Simply put, this workshop was amazing, and I highly recommend it!

I highly recommend this workshop! I see myself as someone who “knows” most of the tools & skills but this workshop was still very beneficial for me because through the drawing you clearly see where/what you need to work on, it makes it very visible and clear. Also the input from Mark is always on point and very useful. And the sharing from other participants is also very educational, supportive and fun!

I’m so used to focus on the problems that my brain wants me to fix. The garden of you workshop gave me concrete and clear tools to use now and in the future. Mark is a very kind and positive presenter, and I think it’s helpful that he has hade poor mental shape/fitness as well. It makes it all very relatable and trustworthy. Sharing the participants’ stories and journeys gave me new ideas and inspiration.

Fantastic workshop which has given me excellent and effective tools to change my life for the better. I did it in the middle of a very challenging time, and it made a huge difference – I left feeling uplifted, inspired and motivated. Mark is great at breaking things down into doable steps so you can really see the path ahead. His approach is super practical but also playful and personable. He’s an amazing listener and addresses everyone’s questions and concerns. It was also fun to draw and write, to talk and meet others. I have now bought myself a big drawing pad and am using the skills I learnt on a regular basis.
